Carolyn T Russo

May 23, 1945 ~ March 9, 2024 (age 78) 78 Years Old

Tribute

Carolyn Turner Russo, 78, of Metairie, entered eternal rest on March 9, 2024.

Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. until Funeral Services at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Laura Stephenson of Christ the King Lutheran Church officiating at Jacob Schoen and Son Funeral Home, 3827 Canal Street, New Orleans, Louisiana, 70119.  A reception will immediately follow in the Iberville Room at Jacob Schoen and Son.

Carolyn Turner Russo was born in small-town Sanford, Florida.  After high school, she relocated to New Orleans, where she graduated valedictorian of Mather School of Nursing.  In true Southern style, she met and married a Louisiana boy, Dr. Dennis A. Russo, D.D.S, to whom she was married for over fifty years.  From that moment on, she became an undying LSU Tiger, sacrificing her beloved Florida Gators as Tiger bait!  She worked as a clinic nurse until she birthed her two sons, Dennis (“Rusty”) and Ryan.  She so enjoyed sarcastic banter with her two boys, family, and close friends.  As the quintessential Southern lady, she would not be caught dead outside of the house without being dressed to the nines, bless her heart!  She always adored and doted on her favorite grandson, Kennon, and her Maltese, Ladybug.  When she wasn’t traveling, taking care of her family, or attending Saturday Services at Christ the King, she could be found gallivanting around town, drinking coffee or wine, with the Dental Wives Club, Red Hatters, Taft Park Garden Club, the Pig Group, or her gal pals at the Blake - Colonial Club.

Carolyn is preceded in death by her parents, Norene and Horace, her spouse Dennis, and her sister, Mildred Turner.

Carolyn is survived by her two sons: Dennis Russo, Jr. (“Rusty”), and Ryan Russo (Mary); her grandchild: Kennon Russo; her sister: Ann Clayton; her brothers-in-law: Drs. Courtney (Percilla) and Wynn (Toni)(Jody deceased) Russo; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association or Lewy Body Dementia Association.  The family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. Ricardo Febry and his amazing staff at Care Associates, Father Andrew Sanchez at St. Francis Xavier Church, and Rev. Laura Stephenson at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
