Marilyn Margaret Chiappetta Westfall, beloved sister, mother, and mawmaw, died Friday, March 15, 2024, at her home in Slidell, Louisiana, surrounded by family.

Marilyn Margaret Chiappetta was born in 1946 in New Orleans to parents Paul Chiappetta and Bernadine Ross. She attended St. Mary of the Angels and Holy Angels Schools and would later remain a dedicated parishioner of St. Mark and St. Luke Parishes. She married Master Sergeant David Earl Westfall in 1969 and began a career in education, earning degrees from ULL and later USM. A lifelong educator and generous spirit, Marilyn touched thousands of lives as a teacher and administrator during her career in the St. Bernard Parish School System. She took pride in her Irish, Italian, and St. Bernard roots and had a deep love of family and community.

Marilyn will be remembered by her two sons, David Westfall II (wife Sarah) and Darren Westfall (wife Brittney Barras); her three granddaughters Amelie, Wilhelmina, and Isla; her brother Glenn Chiappetta (wife Pam), nephew Ross (wife Mallory); her niece Anna Christman (husband Tim); her sister-in-law Lynnda Chiappetta, nephews Kevin (wife Karen) and Paul; and her brother-in-law Frank Westfall (wife Sue), nephew Crease (wife Jennifer) and niece Holly. Her husband, David Westfall, died in 2013. She is also preceded in death by her sister the late Shirley Chiappetta Lawson, her brother the late Paul Chiappetta, and her niece Shirley Chiappetta.

Visitation (10 am-12 pm) and Catholic Mass (12 pm) at Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home Friday, April 26, 2024, followed by burial in St. Louis Cemetery #3.
